Traffic

It didn't really snow on the weekend but what snow there was drifted into the driveway. The farmer and the monster machine failed to appear so there was nothing to do but spend an hour shovelling. It wasn't busy on the street, very few cars went by and no ploughs. Eventually though there was a whining and this vehicle came from the north.

Once the drive was dug enough to get the car out we went off to meet the farmer, maybe he hadn't come because we hadn't paid him, maybe he doesn't work Sundays. All we knew was that he was "gruff but ok". We pulled up in his driveway and, of course, the dog, a German Shepherd with a John Deere bandana, came sniffing around, growling. We climbed out gingerly, rightly so, as we were later told that the dog had "got ahold of a couple of people but never bitten down on them". I believe that's what alligators do.
The farmer turned out to be friendly and not at all gruff, Sunday is a big day for him as he has to clear the parking lots of churches so he was in a bit of a rush but friendly enough. What he farms is potatoes. He said he'd bring us some potatoes, 56lbs was a number mentioned so, we'll see, his generosity may result in our eating potatoes morning, noon and night.
