Sid has been in and out of the animal hospital with liver problems. We're still not sure what is causing it, but he is on a bewildering array of drugs, vitamins, and special food. He has enjoyed his ventures outside of the house, though, especially watching the birds come to the feeder, which we just filled.

Charlie is in his element here and is spending more and more of the day outside. We looked out on Sunday evening to see him struggling through the deep snow near the barn, at the bottom of the hill. Jim went all the way down there to rescue him and bring him back up to the top of the hill, only for Charlie to go bounding back down and continue floundering in the snow drifts.
It is warming up and the snow is melting. We're beginning to see little patches of brown grass around the trees. More snow is forecast for Friday, but for now, we're enjoying the warm weather and gloating about the fact that we don't yet have horses to see through the mud season. One long haired dog who has discovered the joys of the country will be quite enough to handle.
Especially if he, and his companion, insist on trying for the good couch. Picture taken just before shooing.
