Last year was the year with the most snow since some other year long ago. This year we have more. Already the driveway looks like the mountains of the moon. We've prepared to decorate, with that contentious wallpaper, so all this stuff

and this stuff

and this stuff
which makes the house crowded. Added to that Sandy has come to stay for a month. Sandy is a very old, nearly blind yellow lab that belongs to some friends of ours. Sandy and Charlie crashing around in the small space left among the displaced furniture makes the house seem very small indeed.

We've had to make space by filing the cats amid the pots and pans.
Outside there are drifts in the driveway
and the street looks bleak. It's cold, maybe 12F, and there's a strong wind.

Fortunately we have gluhvein!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind comments.
ReplyDeleteWe find it hard to believe how much snow there is, it wasn't like this last year. I also thought it didn't get fiercely cold until after Christmas, though that may be wishful thinking. Global warming's to blame of course, though quite how I dunno.
Southern California is quite dear to me, some years back I had to work for half a week in Vegas and, not loving Vegas, decided to make something of the trip by driving there, stopping at National Parks along the way. My middle daughter, then 18 or so, came and we went on to Ventura so as to drive the Mustang convertible I had at the time in the surf.
The trip was a blast and, on the way back, we met Anna in Colorado. Anna likes horses.
That, in very short, is how a completely urban person (London, then Toronto but wishing he was in NYC) came to be in a field in the snow trying to wrap a donkey in a blanket.
Ooh! Snow and Gluhvein - sounds like a good combo. We have a little of one and none of the other.
