The need for a halter on an unattended donkey arises from an incident earlier this week. The farrier was coming so Anna drove down to the barn with a load of new shavings. This entailed opening the gate to the field and that was all the opportunity Kobe needed; he was out!
Of course, his herd followed and off they went, up the lane and down the road stopping only when they reached the tended lawn of the house of the chicken killing dog. There Anna caught up with them and was able to halter and tie the horses easily enough. She led them back to our lawn and then went back to chase the donkey around the lawn and ornamental plants while the chicken haters peeked out from behind the curtains.
When I returned there were unmistakable signs that a horse had been on our lawn.
