Birds

Mind you, we're not becoming bird watchers. You'll find no life list, binoculars, knee-length khaki shorts, or walking sticks in the house, but... we (Sid most especially) have really enjoyed the wide variety of birds that come to the feeder and pick out their favourite seeds.

We haven't identified the following bird yet. Feel free to tell us who he might be.

I think this is a hairy woodpecker. We've also had a visit from his smaller cousin, the downy woodpecker.

Last night we saw a mourning dove for the first time.

This is the shy and quick white-breasted nuthatch.

And the friendly and very cute black capped chickadee.

And finally, the ever-present blue jay. We haven't actually had any problems with the blue jays yet. So far, they have yet to live up to their nasty reputation.

We didn't get a picture of the wild turkeys, or of the various hawks and falcons that we've seen in the surrounding fields. Maybe if we find the right shade of khaki, we can head out with the camera.
