And on high days and holidays we have venison chops.

(You can tell this was a grand day because the glasses have stems).
Vension has proven to be highly addictive and that it has reached our plates is a source of wonder. These deer were brought down by bow and arrow; a crossbow being too much like a gun for a serious hunter. That must take some skill and concentration.
Depends on what sort of bow and arrow they used. If it was a compound bow then then its hard to miss. .....
ReplyDeleteI'll ask when she returns from vacation. It's not a captive hunt though, no cage or hide is involved; they go into the forest on foot and track down the deer so I think "hard to miss" something of an overstatement.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit to a prejudice as we are traditional, even primitive style archers. A compound bow is extremely accurate, easy to draw and hold at full draw, and so you have time to aim using precision sights. The local hunters at the archery shop here say that the deer are the easiet to shoot as when they hear a noise they stand still. I'm not taking away the skill of tracking etc, but from what I gather there's a lot of sitting waiting for the animals to walk by your camoflaged hide. Let me know! Leigh
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt attempt to shoot any living creatures with my traditional stuff, plus I'm not very good! I have seem some impressive standards of archery here though
