this morning Anna collected her car, the Element, and drove off to a new life. What a city boy is going to do with 100+ chickens, two horses, a donkey, three cats, a dog and a tractor is anyone's guess. I don't suppose I'll be moving that lot to an apartment convenient for work.
Bummer.
ReplyDeleteWell yes.
ReplyDeleteThis video captures where I come from and how I would once have reacted:

I may be a better or, at least, softer person now.
Bummer, indeed.
ReplyDeleteI don't go on BE now as we didn't emigrate but I have followed your blog ever since.
Do you really want to move back to the city?
Best of luck whatever you decide. Maybe take your time tho.
Hugs,
J.
Well, that was a grim day. The Beetle chose to fall apart outside my ex-wife's house while I was delivering the shared child. I ended up driving her car back here. This illustrates a problem with rural living, you need lots of cars, a single one won't stand up to the mileage.
ReplyDeleteMove back to the city, I don't know. Obviously the place in the country with a horse was someone else's dream. I just grew to enjoy it. I have to think about the things I like about being out here and the things I don't. I'm rather envious of Juliette in that regard, unhappy in Toronto, she's selling up and traveling the world. "To be jealous of my children" was once my ambition, how often it has come true.
As the song goes I guess
ReplyDeleteyou just keep
on keeping on
life sucks sometimes but it's better than the alternative

I suppose Mr. Inukshuk is the exemplar of the ability to keep on keeping on. They've really had a hard time.
ReplyDeleteOh hell. So sorry to read this news. Life is indeed what happens while you're making plans.
ReplyDeleteOne foot in front of the other and repeat. In time you'll be able to look up and note the forward motion - life goes on.
With the 100+ chickens I'm tempted to say
ReplyDelete" have a bloody big barbeque!!"

ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of plucking of allegorical roosters.
