A new commute, part 1.

The problem with North America is that the work ethic follows the old lie, "it is sweet and good to die for your company"(I'd do that in Latin if I was educated). It's not unusual for a prospective client to phone on a Thursday night and expect fifty hours worth of work before Monday morning. There's a lot of that at the moment. As well, I'm now working on a contract for a firm west of here which is rather fun and a much gentler pace than usual. Alas, the usual hasn't gone away so I trundle west for a hour, work mellowly, then drive back east and work frenziedly at all the things I didn't do while at work.

The drive in is eerie. There are no lights, often no other vehicles and much fog.

It's really a nice drive if there's an excuse to go in late.

The job is in a rather English looking town, it's dominated by some sort of ecclesiastical structure with scaffolding on it.

It's a university town with some promisingly rough looking bars. I'm taken with the idea of the Cowboy Bar which looks to be a converted cinema. It has a mechanical bull.
