The horses continue to complicate the life of their shit shoveler. Here we see a half empty tractor bucket after Austin dumped the other half of the content on to the ground by leaning on the control lever.

On the weekend we were over to the neighbour's for dinner. The other guests were the neighbour's son and his wife. It's the son who owns the gun the neighbour is using to generate raccoon corpses for our manure pile. Some time last week there'd been a porcupine in one of the trees and the neighbour had shot it. He complained that it took very many shots because the scope on the borrowed rifle wasn't easy to see through. The son fetched the gun, explained removal of the scope lens cover and suggested that shooting very many bullets into the air might not be the best way to deal with a porcupine. The whole scene was familiar, it was as a parent was asking an adult child for advice on a PC or VCR and getting a condescending answer except that they were talking about guns and bullets. I found this slightly disturbing, Anna thought it very American.
Much of the rest of the conversation was about Texas, where the neighbours go for the winter. That's something unpleasant about rural Canada, it's still July and already people are talking snow fences, snow removal, winter's pall is ever present.
Here are a couple of videos of the horses in the round pen. They're both fat but at least Dixie has some go to her:
Still it was very hot and humid. Just watching caused this reaction:
Yep, clips work....
