Desecration

It was the Canadian 4th of July. Some friends of ours have rented a place to use as a cottage for the Summer in a village that has a fireworks display. They had a barbecue in afternoon and so we threw something on, and off we went.

It's not your regular cottage:

but, being an old church, it's convenient for guests who bring dogs, or horses, or, I suppose, giraffes. The walls of the courtyard have rings at shoulder height all the way around.

Inside, the upper floor is, for the moment, still in the format of a church with frescoes and pews and all the associated paraphenalia. No hymn books though. We could help with that.

"Bless you child for we shall sin".
No belfry either though plenty of bats. Lots of space for those guests who felt the need to cavort:

And then, across the road, a really impressive fireworks show, the village's second claim to fame.

I've no doubt we'll be seeing the primary one, the rodeo.
