Relocating the Chicks

The chicks were getting a bit big for their box, they were starting to fight and at least one was able to fly up on to the edge, with one more hop he or she would be out. So it was time to move them to the chicken room in the barn. This presented a problem as the box went in through the window but, with the sawdust and chicks it was too heavy to go out that way. We needed another method of moving them. This proved too slow:

so we found another box and moved them into it

on arrival they seemed a bit shocked, they huddled in a heap. The next day though they were alert and exploring.

We didn't have a geologist's hammer to hand but this object provides an idea of scale.

They're were very intested in my shoes, perhaps they were after the horse drool.
